New York Times Rap

There was a crisis
All about Isis
There was an attack in Paris
That involved some bad terrorists
Global Warming heating up
But America won the world cup
Bruce Jenner became of woman
And showed trans genders who can
Have the same rights
Without putting up a fight
Presidential candidate Donald Trump
People think he’s such a dump
Word.

Today, January 8, 2016, in our human geography class with Mr. Schick, me and Emily Pollard decided last minute to write and perform a rap in front of our class and then submit it to the New York Times for a contest. It was really easy and I’m very glad that I did it because I now have 10 extra credit points. I will also be attending the Pow Wow tomorrow so in total I’ll have 20 points in extra credit so I will partially make up my exam grade.

Glacier National Park Notes

Today, January 6, 2016, in our Human Geography class with Mr. Schick, we continued the note taking from the National Geographic video talking about environmental geography and global warming. Today, we didn’t take as many notes but I’ll jot them down on this blog just in case they can be used for an open note test in the near future. We discussed specifically how global warming effected Glacier National Park in Montana.
-       Glacier National Park is in Montana
-       Ginnell Glacier averages around 7,000 ft.
-       In our lifetime, the entire glacier could melt away
-       The glacier used to be 710 acres and now it is 220 acres

We looked at images f this glacier over the years and I was amazed at how much of it has been worn away. What was once an entire platform of solid ice is now a lake of melted ice.

Environmental Geography

Today we went over environmental geography information and I will just be copying my notes onto the blog.
-       Earth’s temperature has risen from 1.2 to 1.4 in the past century
-       Human activity is causing Global Warming (Climate Change)
-       Cars and factories and fossil fuels have been harmful since the Industrial Revolution
-       Wood, coal, gas, electricity, and oil are all sources of heating/fossil fuels/pollutants
-       Solar panels: renewable energy
-       Greenhouse Effect: sun hits surface and heats it and traps heat
-       Fossil fuels give of CDO causing GE in atmosphere (bad)
-       Coal powered factories pollute more than oil powered
-       Cow gas= pollutant
-       1998: warmest year in history/ 2005: 2nd warmest
-       Arctic sea ice reduced by 10% in the last 30 years
-       Earth’s temperature could go up 10 degrees in the next century
-       10 out of the last 13 years have been 10 of the warmest years in history
-       Carbon Dioxide: 82%
-       Methane 10%
-       Nitrous Oxide 5%
-       Fluorinated Gases 3%
-       Ocean levels risen 6 inches
-       Earth loses 400 billion of ice

-       Climate change: long term change in earth’s overall temperature
