Today in our human geography class, we reviewed what we
learned on Friday about globalization. Globalization is the interconnection of
different parts of the world. Globalization is often associated with
Americanization which is the exporting of American brands. We then revisited
the images that showed examples of globalization. The first one showed a
picture of a mall in Asia that included American stores such as KFC and
McDonalds. The next image showed the Silk Road. The Silk Road is key to
globalization because it was a path that people would travel to trade and
introduce new things with Asia. The next picture showed a woman in the the Philippians
worshiping Jesus. This shows globalization because Christianity was originally
from Rome but it spread so that other countries now worship God. Finally, we
looked at a picture of an African tribe leader using a cellphone. This led to
the topic of the first time Mr. Schick ever used a cellphone which ended up
teaching us a lot about Mr. Schick. We learned that he was an assistant
director for many popular movies and he even met my favorite actress, Jessica
Lange.
