Today, is October 26, 2015 and in
our Human Geography class with Mr. Schick, we found out some exciting news,
that China has let go of their one child per family rule and allowed Chinese
parents to have up to two children. This is very coincidental because just this
week, we began learning about Asia and their ways of keeping the population
low. In addition to learning that exciting news, we completed our 3 class
period long activity of watching this informative video that is titled, The
People Paradox. Yesterday, we began learning a little bit about Kenya and how
rough the poverty is over there. Similar to Japan, there population is dropping
but Kenya has different reasons for this happening. People are being killed off
by dangerous diseases most commonly, Aids. We looked at a particular family
that was being raised by their older sister because their parents had died. In
order to supply them with meals, she would sell her body and eventually she
obtained aids.

India, Japan, and Africa
Today, October 26, 2015, in our
Human Geography class with Mr. Schick, we were on part three of this
informative yet unfortunate video. We have been watching this video all week
now and since Mr. Schick insists that we take notes on the important facts
within the video, I am assuming that this is what our next chapter quiz will be
all about. I am paying very close attention to everything Mr. Schick is saying
because I really want to do well on this next quiz and also because I find what
we’re learning quite interesting. The video is covering many different topics.
We learned that India’s culture creates a miserable life for women. They are
being forced by their husband’s to have many children to make sure they have
lots of boys even if it means the wife will die. We also covered the topic of
Japan’s huge decrease in population and over abundance of retired people, causing
more money to be taken out of the government than put in. Currently, we are
learning about the horrible environment of Kenya.

People Paradox
Today, October 22, 2015, in our
Human Geography class with Mr. Schick, we cleared up any confusion that anybody
still had about the kiva.gov extra credit assignment. I plan on working on that
for my free mod today because I really want to take advantage of these extra
points. Also, I appreciate that Mr. Schick is giving us this opportunity
because most teachers wouldn’t do that. Once we were finally through with the
explanation of kiva.gov, we watched an informative video that explained a
little bit about the over abundance of children in India. I had no idea that,
the people of India were having so many children because whenever the woman
would give birth to a girl, the family felt as if that girl was useless to
their family and they would keep having children until they received many boys.
Even though I knew that women were being discriminated in other regions of the
world, I guess I never realized how serious it became. Women in India are
practically pushed to keep having children until they are killed by childbirth.
