The Unexamined Life is not Worth Living

Today in Human Geography, we reviewed the key vocabulary for our test we will be having on Wednesday. We reviewed the term agora, which is a central marketplace, assembly, or gathering place. An agora is the center for athletics, art, spirituality and politics. It was like the shopping mall of ancient Greece. Next we reviewed the term polis, which is political entities ruled by their bodies of citizens. We went over the importance of the year 508 B.C. That year is important because it was the first time that someone revolted against their rulers. After that, countries all over began revolting.

Next, we went over the life of Socrates. As a young man, he was a stones man, and he fought in the Peloponnesian War so he was used to difficult work. His method asks a series of questions to determine underlying beliefs and extent of knowledge.  He was charged with the crimes of corruption and dissing the Greek Gods so he was put to death by drinking a poison herb. However, they gave him a chance to make right his wrongs and even escape but he refused which is why he is such an important figure in history.
